Welcome to Pilot Club of Greater Long Island
A group of dedicated, professional people across Long Island decided to form a
new Pilot Club that could reach those in need througout Long Island. With that
goal in mind, the Pilot Club of Greater Long Island was chartered on April 9,
2008. Our focus is on helping those who suffer from brain disorders, however we
are dedicated to helping all whom we can. We have helped raise funds or provided
hands on help for agencies such as AHRC, the Alzheimers' Assocation, the
American Cancer Society, Family Service League, Pronto of Long Island, and
Veterans' progams at the Northport VA.
Come Join Us
We are always looking for new members to join us. Members come from all walks of life and have
a common goal to help those in need, and to improve the quality of life in
communities around the world. Being a member of the Pilot Club of Greater Long
Island also means you are a member of the Northeast Potomac District, Pilot
International, and the Pilot International Foundation. We enjoy traveling to
workshops and conventions on the District or International levels and meeting
with other individuals who share a common interest. Please contact us at pilotclubofgreaterli@yahoo.com
for more information on how to attend a monthly meeting held on the second
Wednesday of each month at 7 pm.
About Pilot International
Pilot International was founded
in 1921 as a volunteer service organization. The historic inspiration for the
name was the riverboat pilot who would steer a true course through calm or
troubled waters. Thus, the motto, ?True Course Ever? and the nautical wheel
emblem, seen most often at the entrance to communities throughout the world.
Pilot members are business and
professional leaders who share a common trait, the desire to help people in need
and to make the world a better place to live. Membership in Pilot International
consists of 25,000 adult and youth volunteers from the Bahamas, Bangladesh,
Canada, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, and the United States.
These steadfast volunteers
combine their talents and resources to benefit the quality of life through
excellence in community service. Pilot members are a part of an international
family of volunteers who speak a universal language of friendship and service.
